AN INTERVIEW WITH IRVING BUSH
Irving Bush was a trumpet player with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 33 years, from 1962 to 1995. For the last 13 years with the orchestra he also served as the personnel manager. With the Philharmonic, Irving has recorded between 30 and 40 CD’s and toured the world. During this time he was also active in the studios.
Irving Bush was one of the earlier layers to perform as a jazz musician and a classical musician. He played lead trumpet for many bands, including a stint with Maynard Ferguson. He was the trumpet player with the Nat King Cole band for several years.
Mr. Bush is the author of several books on trumpet techniques and has composed and published fanfares for four trumpets. He is the designer of Bush Brass Mouthpieces and was a well-known teacher and clinician.
