BOBBY SHEW LIVE

Although he is essentially a self-taught musician, Shew has achieved an international reputation as both an inspiring trumpet pedagogue and a renowned performer. He is commonly referred to as one of the greatest masters of modern jazz trumpet playing.

    Today, in addition to a busy performing and private teaching schedule, Bobby spends a considerable amount of time actively involved in conducting clinics and master classes at high schools and college campuses all over the world. Bobby has been active on the Board of Directors of the International Trumpet Guild, and has acted as National Trumpet Chairman for the International Association of Jazz Educator’s for 16 years. He authors numerous articles of educational interest in various trade magazines, all translated into several languages for worldwide distribution.

    This DVD captures Bobby playing jazz in a small club with a jazz quartet  featuring Theo Saunders on piano, Tom Warrington on bass, and Kendall Kay on drums. This DVD captures the musicians getting to stretch out and play freely in a comfortable intimate setting. This footage was recorded May 3, 2003.
